Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that I love Xero.

I’m a total fangirl of the software.

What it can do and how they take accounting seriously.

The Courtship of Xero

I don’t fall in love easily. Believe me, I’ve tested quite a few pieces of accounting software. So many that I won’t list them.

After years of submitting to outrageous hosting fees, I had to find ONE and stick with it. That’s when I found Xero.Bus Building - Xero

Trifold Love

The reasons I love it so are three fold…

#1 – The 400+ Addon Market
They stick with what they are good at but have an open database/open source so that you can do just about anything you want and incorporate just about anything that you want considering they have an add-on market of over 400 providers.

As an accounting professional, this is exciting because I can help my clients build upon an already robust base to have the system do what they need it to do while still have the foundation (Xero) do what I need it to do.

#2 – Partnership with Professionals (And They Listen)
They care about their customers and the professionals that serve them.

As an accounting professional, it’s disheartening to go to school for 4-8 years, learning your craft… then have a software company propose that you can be replaced.

Accounting is more than debits and credits.. it’s more than classifying transactions.

Xero understands that…listens intently to our feedback and considers professionals their equals as partners. I must admit, I really like that.

#3 – Simplistic, Easy To Navigate User Interface
Simplistic interface. No wild colors. No unnecessary stuff on the dashboard.

Just the minimum and the minimum is good.

It’s bad enough that non-accountants don’t want to do their bookkeeping… you don’t want to distract them with a bunch of stuff.

Most of us, just want to get in there, do what we need to do and get out of there. But seriously, don’t let the simplicity fool you… there’s a lot going on under the hood. And I like that too.

I have been using Xero in my business and with all of my clients for several years now. Things have been getting better and better as they have grown as a company.

I’m excited to see where they are going in the future. In the meantime, I’m going to explore more ways I can use Xero in my business with the Add-On Marketplace…

I’ll let you know what I come up with…

If you have questions about Xero and how I use it in my business and with my clients or have a topic idea for me…shoot me an email.

Until next time,
J
