You know that thing that you do?
When you try to do more than one thing at a time?
Yeah, multitasking. That thing.
You know it’s really impossible to do.
Multitasking Is A Myth
Multitasking or what we claim it to be is really a myth.
No one is “good” at multitasking.
But do you know why?
It’s because we as human beings… intellectual creators…we aren’t built in such a way to make multitasking work for us.
We need to focus on one thing at a time.
A Little Exercise
Don’t believe me? Try doing this. Try focusing your eyes on two different things. Independently.
You can’t do it, can you?
Your brain and how you focus are no different.
To really get things done, we need to focus on one thing at a time.
Want Knock It Out Of The Park?
Want to not only complete a task but want to knock it out of the park every time? Here’s how:
1. Block out some time for the task that you want to complete. And prepare yourself.
2. FOCUS! I mean seriously. Take your focus to the next level. Turn off all the sources of your distractions (like Facebook and Twitter and email) and focus!
3. Once you are focused… take it to the next level. Complete the task at hand from beginning to end. And knock it out of the friggin’ park!
Agree with me? Disagree with me?
How do you feel about multitasking? Do you really think you’re any good at it?
If you are, it’s my guess that something is lacking. Be honest.
Let me hear it in the comments below.
