Virtual, Outsourcing, Telecommute, The Cloud… tons of jargon but what does it mean and how do you decide what is best for you and your business? So many questions, so little time.Take a deep breath, start at the beginning AND stop putting so much pressure on yourself. You don’t have to decide right this second… give me that second and hopefully, I can help you decide which solution is right for you and your business.

Let’s go for a little (virtual) ride down the imaginary road to the business of your dreams.  I promise I have a point – just hop in the imaginary hybrid that runs on dreams and chocolate and let’s ride… for a moment.

We’re your office – where is it (home/office, shared space, or office building)?  What are you doing?  Is your company ‘solo/micro’ (less than 10 people), ‘small’ (11-50 people) or knocking on ‘medium/large’ (51-200+ people)?  Do you have one bookkeeper who works with your CPA or does your business in the future have a full accounting department?

Plan now for your dream business of a year to five years from now…you can answer the question for yourself.  Do you “need” a one-person virtual service provider or do you need a team of virtual service providers?  Tip:  revisit your answer from up there ^^^ re:  does your future business have a bookkeeper/accountant or an accounting department…

For the most part, there are benefits and downsides to both scenarios that I would get into here but if you plan now with the end in mind…You will be able to make the best choice for your firm.

As a frame of reference – my clients are a  bit of both:  solo/micro businesses that just need some help keeping things straight and what access to an experienced advisor, ie the “virtual CFO package”; while others are more on the small business side that need someone to look after the day to day cashflow of their businesses and organizations, ie the “virtual accounting department package”.

See… not that hard to decipher and as promised our little trip in the hybrid of dreams & chocolate, although funny, helped.  If you found anything here helpful – share it with your friends.  If you have any questions, let me here about it.
